How I ended up here

My name is Lyuben, 23 years old and as you probably already know, I am the Bulgarian trainee in the Unit.

About one year ago, while I was having a shower after playing football I suddenly thought about doing an internship in the European parliament. A “stage” in this institution is not exactly something I have planned for months. The idea just jumped into my head and I decided to give it a go. A couple of months after I submitted my application, I received a letter informing me about my selection in the Information office of the European parliament in Sofia, Bulgaria. Unfortunately, as I study in the Netherlands and always imagined the place I am going to work in will at least be part of an international environment, after a lot of hesitation, I withdrew my application.

A bit after my withdrawal, when I was taking another shower after I had played another football game (so what? I do like football…), I told myself that I can try again. Very diligently, I filled in the EP internship application form for the second time and one beautiful December morning, while I was checking my e-mail, the sun showed at my window. Figuratively speaking of course! Sun almost doesn`t exist in the Netherlands. At least I haven`t seen it for the 2 years I have spent there. And don`t even get me started on Belgium…

Anyway, after I read some information about the Web Communication unit and talked with people who work in the administration of the Parliament and know it better than me, I confirmed my interest in an internship in this unit. Now, I have spent more than 1 month here, and there certainly is nothing I can regret for.

Thanks to everyone for the support!

  4. Yeah, I understand what you mean, Florent! I was also glad getting into an internship with actual responsibilities during my studies.

  5. Of course he deserves it! he’s now doing the same job as other editors: our bulgarian colleague is on maternity leave, and he has taken over her duties. I would have liked to make this kind of internships when I was a student…

  6. Wish you a lot of fun – sounds like you deserve the place if you were accepted twice… :-)
