At work

10 things you should know about me!

1. My name is Lyuben, Bulgarian, one of the new interns in the Web Communication Unit of the European parliament. Pleased to meet you!

2. My name means ‘beloved’ in Bulgarian and I got it tattooed on my back when I was 16

3. As the Bulgarian editor – Svetla will not be at her workplace for some time and I am doing part of her work, we could probably say that from the moment I came here, I was put in her shoes

4. Originally, I am from Bulgaria, but I live in Brussels and study International and European law in the Netherlands

5. I was pushed from the second floor of a metro station in Brussels falling down directly on the rails and after this experience some friends call me ‘the flying Dutchman’ (I don’t know why exactly they do that. I mean…I obviously tried to fly, but my attempt was unsuccessful!)

6. I do like to ask A LOT of questions (ask the Danish editor – Olav, in whose office I work:)

7. I love those short Fridays! It feels really good to be back home at 2 o’clock in the afternoon.

8. I used to be a football player when I was a teenager, but decided to leave my dream to be a professional in a big club in order to, as my mom says, ‘grow academically’ :)

9. If I find the gold fish, one of the three wishes I would want to come true would be to speak Dutch very well. I do study the language, but damn, it`s a difficult one!

10. It is a matter of honor and privilege for me to be part of an institution like the Parliament and a cool, fresh unit like Web Communication!

See you all and take care!

  2. Hoi Lyuben,

Lyuben Hi, I’ve also seen the movie and i was in shocked! I am therefore pleased to read that you’re ok now. I read that you studying the Dutch language, then you might be able to translate this:) In any case, success and hopefully there will still justice for guests!

  7. I am a Hungarian teacher living in Budapest. Yesterday I have seen the video of the attack against you in the metro. I will not forget these dramatic pictures. Your attackers are extremely cruel people, they belong into jail. What did you learn from this terrible incident? I sincerely wish you full recovery and success in your life. – Peter

  8. I also saw the video and hope you will recover fully and have a great life. I feared for your life when I saw the fall.

    All the best!

  9. Thank you all for the nice words!

@ Suzanna: I am not following any Dutch classes, because I am quite busy during the day.

Anyways, thanks for the weblog, I`ll definitely use it

  10. How are you doing, Lyuben? The video of you being pushed from the second floor from the underground station was spread all over the places. I’m happy to see that you seem to have recovered. I do not know you, but I want to wish you well and much success in life. May your future be full of bright prospects, wealth and great health.

Funny that you want to learn Dutch. Are you following any Dutch classes? My husband is also learning Dutch. He finds this weblog handy: http://dwotd.web-log.nl Maybe you will like it as well. :)

  11. Lyuben, thanks for this post! I find that “stagiaires” in the institutions are very intelligent and well prepared people! We are lucky to have you!

  13. I unfortunately do not read Bulgarian, but Lyuben shows that freshness and motivation are much more important than experience in our team :))
