Recess in the European Institutions, but more so in the European Parliament means that actually the personalities around whom the whole EP civil service revolves are no longer around. For the role of the EP civil service is precisely that of laying a red carpet and being of service to the Members. The Members not being there, there are no committee meetings, there is no plenary, there is no buzz in the corridors, or in the cafeteria, gossip goes down and consequently so does news, our bread and butter for the News page that you are reading. Sincerely whilst one rubs hands in joy at the looming break, necessary to have a fresh comeback, one can say that it is not fun to stay around the House when the MEPs are gone.
